  SCUBA Certification
The Class, Explained.
The PADI Open Water SCUBA Diver course serves as an introductory certification that immerses students in the captivating realm of SCUBA diving while providing a solid foundation in fundamental principles. Covering topics ranging from the scientific aspects of SCUBA diving to acquiring essential skills for safe diving, this course guarantees an enjoyable and immersive experience for all participants. After this class you'll be a certified SCUBA diver for life. You'll be able to go on dives, rent gear and explore the underwater world like never before.

How long does it take to complete the PADI Open Water course?
The Open Water Course takes 3 days to complete. We recommend completing the online course work prior to beginning your scuba diving practical training. The 3 days course will reinforce the core skills you learned in your online training and put them into practice.
I don't have 3 days to complete my course, can i still get certified?
Learning to SCUBA dive is a journey and PADI has developed its course curriculum and certification requirements to allow students the flexibility to begin their training in one location and finish in another location. Only have 1 or 2 days to commit to your training? That’s okay! We will get you as far as we can and provide you with a referral detailing all the skills you have completed and what remains. Your referral form can be provided to any PADI dive center to complete your remaining certification requirements.
What am I able to do after I am certified?
Your Open Water Certification allows you to participate in recreational boat dives, guided shore dives, and allows you to rent equipment from Dive Centers all over the world. Your certification will allow you to export waters as deep as 60 ft/18m. Want to dive deeper? Once you complete your OWSD course, check out the Advanced Open Water Diver (AOW) course to expand your knowledge of specialty skills and extend your depth rating to 100ft or 30m!

  SCUBA CERTIFICATION
The Class Process at Seasport Divers
   Registration and Knowledge Development

First, you'll need to register for the PADI Open Water SCUBA Diver course with Seasport Divers. Our friendly staff will guide you through the process and provide you with all the necessary information. Once registered, you will receive the PADI Open Water Diver e-learning materials. If you haven't purchased them yourself, Seasport Divers will send them to you. These e-learning materials are designed to guide you through the knowledge development sessions of the course. During the knowledge development sessions, you will complete various modules online. These modules cover a wide range of topics related to SCUBA diving theory, equipment, safety procedures, and skills. They provide you with comprehensive information to ensure you have a solid understanding of the essential concepts and principles of SCUBA diving.

Classroom Review and Confined Water Sessions

For the first day of class you will check in at 8:30 AM for a quick review of the e-Learning. Then we will get going on your confined water dives in shallow water at the Kukui’ula harbor! Finish time will depend on how comfortable you are with all the skills, but it is usually around 1:00. Note: You can even arrive on Kauai with this already done by completing your confined water dives with your local dive shop (usually in a pool). Then you would save time on your trip by only doing the open water diving while you’re here.

On your second day, you will check in again at 8:30 AM for your first two Open Water dives at our shore location, Koloa Landing. This dive site is perfect for training! You will be done around 12:30. We will provide snacks and water throughout the morning.

Complete all of the e-Learning Knowledge Reviews, quizzes, and final exam prior to arriving so we can get you in the water right away!

Open Water Sessions & Boat Upgrade

On your final day, you will either check in at 8:30 AM for your last two dives from shore, or if you decide you want to do the boat upgrade (highly recommended!), you will check in at 12:30 PM for your final two Open Water dives off the boat. Your day concludes around 5 PM back at the store, where upon successful completion of the course your instructor will log your dives, complete paperwork, take your pictures, and process your temporary certification cards. Then, you will be Open Water certified for life!"
