Children as young as 5 years old can now participate in safe SCUBA like activities with SASY. Kids 8 to 9 years old can begin their Underwater SCUBA adventure with the PADI program BUBBLEMAKERS and 10 to14 year olds are able to attain the ranking of JR-OPEN WATER CERTIFIED. Program details below.

SASY (Supplied Air Snorkeling for Youth)

Children 5 years of age and older can now participate in a fun and safe SCUBA-like activity created especially for them. The SASY units are designed like SCUBA units except the BCD’s are un-sinkable, so the child remains safely on the surface. Breathing from a regulator and wearing a child sized air tank, children can play at SCUBA in an easily controlled safe pool setting with one of our qualified instructors. SASY unit, fins, mask, wetsuit and an assortment of toys are provided.

SASY OCEAN DIVES.

Children who participate in the SASY Pool Program are eligible to SASY in the ocean at the discretion of the instructor. This allows children to experience some of Poipu’s beautiful snorkel sites with safe, buoyant SASY units with supplied air. Water conditions and the child’s ability are important factors in eligibility for this program.

BUBBLEMAKERS

This PADI designed program allows 8 and 9 year olds to experience SCUBA diving in a safe shallow pool under the direct supervision of a qualified SCUBA instructor. This is a great way to introduce future SCUBA divers to the underwater world in a safe, controlled environment. Child sized SCUBA gear; fins, mask, wetsuit and toys are provided.

BUBBLEMAKER OCEAN DIVES

Children, who have participated in the Bubblemakers pool experience, can then graduate to ocean diving in shallow water to a maximum depth of 6 feet. A qualified SCUBA instructor conducts Bubblemaker ocean dives at one of Poipu’s fabulous snorkel sites where children can swim with the fish, in a safe protected area. Child sized SCUBA gear is provided and all activities are safe and designed with the child in mind. Participation in Ocean Bubblemakers is at the instructor’s discretion, and will depend upon the child’s abilities and water conditions. A parent or guardian is required to attend. All gear provided.

JR.OPEN WATER.

This program is conducted exactly like an open water class for anyone 15 or over, except for the exception of maximum depth. JR Divers 10-11 are limited to a maximum depth of 40 feet. 12-14 years old are limited to a maximum depth of 60 feet on training dives 3 and 4, and 70 feet for dives afterward until the age of 15. They still have to flood their masks and all the other fun stuff the adults get to do, as well as the knowledge reviews, quizzes and the test. This is a for real class. Instructor discretion on children 10 and 11 still applies. There are important concepts and safety concerns that need to be fully understood by the student. Certified JR Divers must be accompanied by an adult or Divemaster on all dives.
